Niagara Catholic have shared with you information about changes to the Ontario Secondary School Diploma requirements. Ontario has now incorporated two online learning credits as part of a student's graduate requirements.
To support this Niagara Catholic has developed an eLearning program to offer credits in Grade 11 and Grade 12 courses. These eLearning courses occur during the regular school day. Niagara Catholic eLearning courses provide students with flexibility and choice. Student(s) enrolled in eLearning can participate from space(s) provided in the school or from the comfort of their own home. Student(s) taking eLearning classes enjoy this flexibility to balance their school week along with other activities. Elearning classes support the development of 21st Century skills and help prepare students for their post-secondary pathway.
Parent(s), guardian(s) and student(s) should work with the school guidance counsellors to ensure that their course selection plan is on track to meet these new graduate expectations. These changes should not be a barrier for students to graduate. Student(s) may opt-out of the eLearning graduation requirements. This form will only need to be completed once. Niagara Catholic’s eLearning program starts in Grade 11, it is at this time that families are encouraged to explore their options to determine if they require the opt-out option. The Opt-Out form can be found on the school website at the following link:
