Blessed Trinity students, endowed with the spiritual gift of giving, respond to the call of God to assist those who are less fortunate every fall during our annual Pilgrimage Walk. In solidarity with all of the Catholic High Schools in the Niagara Catholic District School Board, we walk for the purpose of raising awareness for social justice issues. At Blessed Trinity, our mission has now extended to our family of schools where their awareness has certainly increased.
Every fall students, staff and parents participate in a 10 km pilgrimage to support the impoverished community of Las Pajas in the Dominican Republic. Over the past seven years we have raised in excess of $50,000 to help our brothers and sisters in Las Pajas. This money has been used to sustain various projects that improve their quality of life and to assist them in becoming a self sufficient community. Their homes now have cement floors; they have clean drinking water, a livestock and farming project. As well, the children of Las Pajas can look forward to an education and given a chance to break the cycle of poverty that their parents endured. The Blessed Trinity flag is proudly displayed in their school, where the children are aware and grateful for all of our efforts during Pilgrimage.
"I shall pass through this world but once. If, therefore, there be any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do, let me do it know. Let me not defer or neglect it for I shall not pass this way again"
~ Stephen Grellet
