Continuing Education Learning Centres

Blessed Trinity students have access to many continuing education resources. Please see below:

Continuing Education Night School Co-op

Night school coop is valuable to the student who either can't fit a coop experience in their timetable or would like to ensure they receive coop credits for SHSM compulsory credits. Please see student services at Blessed Trinity for more information.

Summer School Co-op

Summer school coop is also valuable to the student who either can't fit a coop experience in their timetable or would like to ensure they receive coop credits for SHSM compulsory credits. Please see student services at Blessed Trinity for more information. Choosing summer school co-op could be the result of a paid summer employment that connects well to your SHSM certification sector or to a future trade or employment/education opportunity.

Co-operative Education Credit Information

  • Co-operative education credits are offered through our continuing education program either through semester one and two night school or through our summer school program. This is to help students in achieving their SHSM requirements of co-operative education credits and for OSSD completion.
  • Teachers and students interact virtually through the Niagara Catholic Virtual Learning Environment (NCVLE) with regular placement visits completed by the co-operative education teacher. Students achieve their credits through Continuing Education and then are transferred to their home school transcript.
  • These programs must meet all the requirements outlined in Cooperative Education and Other Forms of Experiential Learning, 2000. They may be made available to students currently enrolled in regular day schools, as well as to returning students who wish to complete their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

These co-operative education credits:

✓ must be assessed for safety and for the educational opportunities they offer before students  are assigned to them

✓ must be scheduled to coincide with the time allocated for the cooperative education teacher  to monitor

✓ scheduled so that a cooperative education credit is not less than 90 hours and that the  student’s program involves an amount of work comparable to that which would be  completed in a day-school program;

✓ ensure that all ministry requirements for cooperative education programs are met. This programming option:

✓ gives students the opportunity to take cooperative education if they are unable to do so  during the regular day school program because of scheduling conflicts;

✓ provides access to placement opportunities that are not available during the regular school  day;

✓ enables students to earn the compulsory and/or optional credits they need to complete their  OSSD. (These could be the cooperative education credits required for a Specialist High  Skills Major [SHSM];

✓ can engage returning students who were early school leavers by providing an opportunity for  learning in the workplace

Applications for the Continuing Education Co-operative Education program are available in  September and January from Continuing Education and school guidance counselors.
